Aims of this day to give awareness about landmines and their progress.
ON this day activity for awareness-raising events, press conference, educational display, and community
chart. These events may include public statements
form land mine survivors, mine action theater performance and education about mine risk.
The aims to give awareness about landmines and progress toward their eradication. "Mine action" refers to a range of efforts to clear landmines and explosive remnants of war and to mark and fence off dangerous areas. It also includes teaching people how to remain safe in mine effective environment.

Background
8 December 2005, UN General Assembly declared April 4 of each year would be observed as an international day for mine awareness and assistance in mine action. The first time it observed on April 4, 2006.
Landmine report of 2005, in 84 countries were affected by
landmines and 15,000 t0 2,000 adults and children killed. The UN works with countries to find and destroy these devices.
